The Shadowed Souls are a group formed by Wyatt Hughes, in which he vows to protect his best friends from their damaged pasts. His own trauma comes in the form of Avery, a girl his parents adopted at the age of ten and effectively replaced him with. She took his family, his home. He won't let her have his men, even if they have other ideas.

In each book, there is an extensive trigger warning list as each character has their own inner battles to overcome. Expect a strong representation of mental health, including but not limited to body dysmorphia, eating disorders, overcoming abuse, and so on.

Oh. My. Goodness!! This dark and twisty gem left me speechless with that twist of a finale. What an exciting start to the series indeed. It's absolutely filled to the brim with secrets, intrigue galore, twists and turns, heat, and one absolutely resilient FMC at the center of it all. Avery is like a phoenix rising from the ashes. After all she has endured in her life, she refuses to let it define her.
Have you ever read a book that completely crushed you? Like stomped on your heart and shredded your soul? Well if you want to experience that than read this book. I was not expecting to feel all these feelings. Every character is multifaceted, deep, and scarred.​ If you love dark and emotional this is a must read! The characters ate so well written. I absolutely love Avery and the guys (even Wyatt). The chemistry they all generate is steamy hot.
Oh my goodness….that was just the rollercoaster I needed. I have sooooo many questions after that little info drop as a cliffhanger. I went into this book thinking I was getting a step brother stalker romance and I was stoked….BUT I was wrong and it has been such a better story than I originally imagined. I love all of these damaged characters and they are the perfect combination of messed up puzzle pieces.
